The rationale underlying the development is described, along with some of the issues and processes involved. Initial usage data are included, which show that there was a need for the service and that it is well used. An initial user evaluation was undertaken during November-December 2001 with over 600 users completing an online questionnaire; some preliminary data and analysis are presented. The paper concludes by examining future plans and developments.
